Recipe(tried): Celebrate The 4th of July!! 2005 - Menu and Recipes
Holidays, CelebrationsHappy 4th of July!
A great way to celebrate our country's birthday is by having a barbeque or a picnic with all the traditional fixings such as hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans and potato salad, maybea add a cole slaw or some sort of veggie salad and always ended with ice cream and cake or pie.
One of my all time favorite pies for this occasion has been from David, Virginia. His granny's My, Oh My, Blueberry Pie. It is a luscious pie, one that always gets comments and raves from my guests. It is sweet and bursting with berry flavor. And just like he says, serve it with ice cream and you "have arrived"!
This year we decided to just have a quiet celebration at home and watch the fantastic fireworks from our own backyard by the cool pool! We were invited to a dear friend's home out in Tampa but thinking of traffic made us decide it's best to stay at home...so it will be Mama, DH and I.
We will be grilling hot dogs and burgers and serving it with my
Classic Potato Salad
Smokin! Baked Beans
Green Bean Salad with Dill & Roquefort
and for dessert,
David's My Oh My Blueberry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream.
Sit back a while and watch TV and around 9 o'clock, go out and enjoy the fireworks.
Happy Birthday America, we love you so!!
Happy Grillin'... Gina
