Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars

Tried this recipe and I thought that I would past it along because it is so good. If you like chocolate covered cherries then you will love these!

Cherry Chocolate Cookies
-makes about 7 dozen

1 c shortening
1 1/2 c white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp almond extract
2 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 c semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 c flaked coconut
1 1/2 c marashino cherries, drained and chopped coarsely

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and flavoring, beating on medium speed until light and creamy, about 2 minutes. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl and mix. Add to creamed mixture a bit at a time and beat just until blended. Stir in chips, coconut and cherries. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased pan and bake in 350 F oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden around edges. Enjoy!
