Paula, Chinese friends (now deceased) who owned a Chinese Restaurant showed me how to do Chinese Green Beans. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but here goes....
In a little bowl, I put a few Fermented Bean Curd Squares (comes in a bottle at Chinese Grocers. I usually buy the ones flecked with hot peppers. I mash these in the bowl and add a tiny bit of the liquid from the bottle. Mix well and add minced garlic to your taste. Mix well. Set aside while preparing the beans. I cut off the ends leaving the green beans whole. Steam them about 5 minutes. Drain well and put in a wok. Stir-fry a few seconds and then add the Fermented Bean Curd Mixture, stirring well to coat the beans. Serve with any chinese meal. The first time I tried it, I wan't sure if I liked it but each time I made it, I liked it better. It is now a favorite! Hope it's what you are looking for. Judy
