This is the old aussie recipe I know as "Golliwog Slice". It can also be made with alcohol (Marsala) instead of the orange juice if it isn't being served to kids.
It only takes 15 - 30 mins to make and is best made a day ahead.
CHOCOLATE BISCUIT SLICE
300 ml thickened cream, well chilled
1 orange, juice and rind
1/4 cup black coffee, strong
250 g chocolate biscuits
Grated chocolate and fresh berries (for serving)
Place thickened cream in small bowl, add orange rind and beat until softly whipped.
Combine orange juice and coffee in another bowl.
Dip biscuits one at a time in the juice/coffee mixture.
Using only half the cream mixture place a spoonful on each biscuit and lay the biscuits side by side on a plate to form a log. Spread remaining cream over the log, cover loosely with plastic wrap and put in the fridge overnight.
TO SERVE:
Slice the log, cut on the diagonal with a serrated knife. Serve with grated chocolate over the top and berries alongside.
ENJOY
