Recipe(tried): Chocolate Chip cookies for Crafty
Misc.Hi, Crafty, welcome to the site! You'll feel like family in no time.
This is my stand-by chocolate chip recipe. It's just a basic Betty Crocker recipe that I've been using for about 30 years. My family loves these, and they complain when I try other chocolate chip recipes!
Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cookies - 3 dozen
1/3 cup Land o' Lakes margarine
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup (6 oz) chocolate chips
Cream together margarine, shortening, and sugars. Stir in egg and vanilla.
Stir the dry ingredients together, add to sugar mixture, stir in gently. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill for a couple hours, if you have the time. Otherwise, drop by (roughly) tablespoons on baking sheet. Roll gently between your palms if you like perfectly round cookies; don't bother if you don't care about uniform shape.
Bake at 375 for 8 - 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
These freeze well, and so does the unbaked dough. They don't keep very well in the cookie jar, but they don't usually have to!
