Recipe: Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies

Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies

1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup cold milk
1/2 cup nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
36 marshmallows ( cut in half)

Sift together dry ingredients. In another bowl, cream shortening and blend well, adding sugar gradually. Add egg, beating well. Blend in flour mixture and milk, alternately. Mix in nuts and vanilla. Drop by rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart on well greased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 minutes in oven at 350. Top each cookie with a marshmallow half, cut side down, baking until it softens. remove from oven and cool. Top with cocoa frosting.

Frosting::
2 cups powdered sugar
5 tablespoons cocoa
dash salt
3 tablespoons melted butter
4 tablespoons cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Beat frosting ingredients together until creamy and smooth.
If marshmallows tend to slide off cookies, lower oven to 325.
