Recipe: Chocolate Peppermint Dessert (using gelatin, whipped cream and chocolate wafers)

CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT DESSERT

1 tablespoon Knox gelatin
4 tablespoons cold water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 pint heavy (whipping) cream, whipped
3/4 tsp. peppermint extract
4 drops green coloring
1 pkg. Nabisco chocolate wafers, crushed fine

Soften gelatin in 4 tablespoons cold water cold water and add to hot milk and sugar. Cool till lukewarm.

Fold in whipped cream. Add peppermint extract and green coloring; set aside.

Put a little more than half of the chocolate wafer crumbs in bottom of buttered square baking dish. Add whipped cream mixture and top with rest of chocolate wafer crumbs. Refrigerate overnight.
