Recipe(tried): Cooking Artichokes

Misc.

Artichokes are the queen of veggies! How lucky to find such a bargain. Peel
off all the outter leaves until you have removed the tough ones. The tender
ones will snap off quite easily. Put enough water in a pot to cover the
artichokes. Add juice of one lemon or lime, two garlic cloves and 2 tablespoons
of olive oil. Bring to a boil and simmer until the base of the artichoke is
tender. Serve hot or cold with melted butter to dip the leaves in or a
dipping sauce of your choice. Some like mayonnaise with a little lemon or
lime juice added. Personally, I like melted butter on hot artichokes and
nothing on the cold ones. The cooking water adds enough flavor for me. Enjoy.
