EASY STROGANOFF PASTA SUPPER
1 ounce medium shell pasta
1 cup water
1 teaspoon margarine or butter
1/2 cup Basic Ground Beef Mixture (recipe follows)
1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon granules
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme crushed
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon all purpose flour
3 fresh mushrooms sliced
1 tablespoon dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon snipped parsley chives or green onion tops
In a medium saucepan, cook pasta in water and margarine or butter for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not drain.
Add meat mixture, bouillon granules and thyme. Bring to boiling: reduce heat. Simmer for 2-3 minutes or until pasta is tender and meat mixture is heated through.
Meanwhile, combine milk and flour. Stir into the saucepan: add mushrooms. Cook and stir over medium heat till thickened and bubbly, then cook and stir for 1 minute more.
Just before serving, stir in sour cream. Heat gently; do not boil. Top with snipped parsley, chives or green onion tops.
BASIC GROUND BEEF MIXTURE
Makes three 1/2 cup portions
1 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper
In a large skittle, cook meat, onion and garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender; drain. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper till well combined. Use 1 portion of the meat mixture right away and or freeze portions for later use.
Makes 1 serving
