Recipe: Favorite Layer Bars (Philadelphia Cream Cheese recipe, 1988)

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
3/4 cup sugar, divided use
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 egg
3/4 cup flaked coconut
3/4 cup chopped nuts
1 (6 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Combine crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and melted margarine, press onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Increase oven temperature to 350 degrees F.
Combine cream cheese, the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and egg, mixing until well blended. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with combined coconut, nuts and chocolate pieces, press lightly into surface.
Bake at 350 degrees F 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool, cut into bars.
Makes 3 dozen bars
