Recipe: French Vanilla Cappuccino / Caffe Latte

Beverages
Hi Sandra,

Back in 1997 someone had a similar question in the alt.coffee Usenet newsgroup. Here is one of the responses and some other info:

Q: am looking for some help on making a nice cup of french vanilla cappuccino. I don't really like the strong taste of expresso. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A: Sounds to me that you would like a caffe latte with French vanilla flavoring. Cappuccino's are stonger than caffe latte's, which have a higher milk to ESPRESSO ratio. Try making a normal caffe latte, but add a little bit of French vanilla syrup in the bottom of the cup first. There are many brands of syrups available, which can be purchased from many cafe's. If you want this drink in a cafe, try ordering a single French vanilla latte. - Twitch (1997)

------------
French Vanilla Cappuccino:

Take whatever amount of espresso you wanted (I usually use a double or triple shot) then steam the milk. (I normally use 2/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk but you can adjust this to your liking.) Before adding the steamed milk, add some French Vanilla syrup, again to taste (I like about 1/2 oz for a double shot) to the espresso, then pour the steamed milk over. I use Torani syrup. This isn't the official recipe, just what I like. - RoxieL (2001)

re: French Vanilla Cappuccino

I'd take another tack, if you want to put out the effort. Make a vanilla milk infusion with a whole scraped/split vanilla bean and milk (or cheat and use vanilla extract). I daresay it'll taste better than syrup. - Scott (2001)

I hope that's a help.
