Recipe: Fruit Loop Cookies with Orange Icing (Fruit Loops cereal box recipe)

FRUIT LOOP COOKIES WITH ORANGE ICING

2 cups Fruit Loops
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
Orange Icing (recipe follows)

Crush cereal into fine crumbs; set aside.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

Beat shortening, butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and orange juice; beat well. Add dry ingredients and cereal crumbs. Mix thoroughly. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.

Frost cooled cookies with Orange Icing. May decorate with fruit loops.

ORANGE ICING

2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

Mix sugar, butter and enough juice for smooth icing or spreading consistency.

Makes 36 cookies
