Turkey Cookies
rec.food.cooking: Reis Evans
Take two vanilla wafers for each turkey, or some other sturdy little round cookied about 1 1/2-inches in diameter, perhaps chocolate or ginger.
Take chocolate frosting--canned is fine for this, because it has to be thick and sturdy. Frost one cookie and then stand it up about 2/3 of the way back of the second cookie, using the frosting.
Place a large gum drop with the flat side against the standing up cookie--it's going to be the body of the turkey.
Press candy corn into the standing up cookie to represent the feathers--the points in toward the gum drop.
Use a small gum drop for the head, some dots of white icing for the eyes and a dribble of red frosting for the turkey waddle. Use the tip of a candy corn stuck on with frosting for the beak.
Trust me, they're cute. They are about the same amount of work as a simple gingerbread house, but they're cute!
