I also live in the south, (a transplant), but my hubby is a "true southerner"...one of the things my mother-in-law (who is 75) who always "cans" her blackberries (just in their own juice) and adds sugar when she opens them in the winter-time...anyway...she always said when you have an upset stomach or stomach problems DRINK BLACKBERRY JUICE...this is an old remedy from who knows how many generation past!!! I'm sure her mother told her, and her mother told her...and on and on and on....
