Recipe(tried): Golden Onsen Egg Salad

Salads - Assorted
Carl Faberg produced some of the finest pieces of jewelry for the Russian monarchy. The most famous creations are the Faberg eggs which were crafted each year for Easter for the royal family. This dish is inspired by the 1897 Faberg Egg crafted on the occasion of Tsar Nicolaus II coronation in Moscow. During this event a stampede occurred on the Khodynka Field. Crowds were gathering to receive gifts from the royal family including a commemorative cup, bread and sausages. The stampede caused the death of over 1300 people. The stampede increased resentment against the monarchy and accelerated the revolutionary powers in the country.

The Faberg egg is an indicator of the level of splendour and ostentation the Russian monarchy enjoyed whilst most of the population was severely unsatisfied.

Method:

Cook the eggs in a steam cooker (100% humidity) or sous vide for 45-60 mins and a temperature of 63 C.

Whilst the eggs are heating up, wash the salad fiercely. Spin it to get rid of any extra water. Start mixing the a dressing out of the oil, vingar, jam and seasoning. Mix the dressing and the salad just before serving as the salad will get limp quickly.

After cooking the eggs roll them in the golden Heitmann Goldrausch golden liquid. Make sure they all have a nice golden sheen.

Portion the dressed salad into bowls and add the golden egg on top as if it was sitting in a little easter nest. Do not forget to tell your guests to crack the egg open on the rim of the bowl. Enjoy!
