Recipe: Goodbye Turkey Casserole (using Minute Rice, 1980's)

GOODBYE TURKEY CASSEROLE

5 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt, divided use
1/4 teaspoon onion salt
1/4 cup melted butter
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups turkey broth
1 1/3 cups uncooked Minute Rice
1/2 cup grated American cheese
1 1/2 cups cooked asparagus
6 slices cooked turkey
2 tablespoons slivered almonds

Mix flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, onion salt and butter in double boiler. Stir in milk. Cook until thickened, stirring occasionally.

Pour mixture of broth and 1/2 teaspoon salt over rice in 2-quart baking dish. Layer half the cheese, all the asparagus and all the turkey over top. Pour sauce over all. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Top with almonds.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes.
