Recipe(tried): Grandma's Jello Icing

Desserts - Fillings, Frostings
Still working on compiling the book of recipes, along with planning our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange which will be in the first part of December. I found this recipe of my Grandma's in a relative's recipe box years after she was gone. I had never known her to make it, but the relatives remembered it fondly from before I was born. It's a great way to get just the flavor of icing you want.

GRANDMA GUERBER'S JELLO ICING

1 cup milk
2 3/4 Tablespoons flour
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 to 1/2 package Jello, any flavor

Cook milk and flour in top of double boiler over simmering water until thick. Cover with plastic wrap touching flour mixture and chill until cold.

In a bowl, cream Crisco and granulated sugar. Add dry Jello and mix well. Add cold flour mixture a spoonful at a time. Beat until thick like whipped cream.
