Recipe(tried): Grenadine

Misc.
Hi,

Grenadine is really pomegranate syrup. If you check the labels of the commercial products true grenadine will have only pomegranate juice. Some products use a combination of cherry and pomegranate juices.

Here is the recipe for Grenadine from our files.

Grenadine

Measure equal parts of juice and sugar, let stand together for three days. Bring to a boil, simmer 5 minutes, strain, pour into sterilized jars and seal. Refrigerate or process in a simmering hot water bath at 180 to 190 degrees F. for 10 minutes.

One tip: Don't let it stand longer than 3 days....it begins to ferment. Been there and done that.

Also....if you can't find pomegranates in the fall try the local health food store for bottled juice. Knudsen's (brand name) has an unsweetened bottled pomegranate juice.
