Recipe: Haymaker's Switchel

This doesn't have the ingredients mentioned in the request, but thought it might help some.

HAYMAKER'S SWITCHEL
Makes about 5 cups

Never in New England was there a haying without quantities of cold switchel at hand. Men working in the fields could drink any amount of it without cloying the taste or destroying the appetite. Even if it becomes tepid, its still refreshing.

1 cup brown sugar
2 quarts water
1/2 cup molasses
3/4 cup vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ginger

Just stir up the ingredients and cool.
SHAKER HAYING WATER OR SWITCHEL
Serves 30

4 cups sugar or 3 cups maple syrup
2 cups molasses
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 gallons water

Put all ingredients together and stir until thoroughly blended. Pour into a large jug and chill.
