Recipe(tried): Here's my method...

This is how I fix it at home: Use cubed steak (also called tenderized round steak in some stores.) Season the meat with salt, pepper and garlic powder then dredge in seasoned all-pupose flour. Dip in beaten egg, then again in flour, shaking off excess. Fry in hot vegetable oil (approx. 1 inch deep) turning at least once. Be careful not to let it fry too fast, or the outside will be overdone and the meat will be raw.

I like to drain the steaks on a rack to help keep them crunchy on the outside. If you like to experiment, you can also use bread crumbs for the second coating instead of flour. Also, if you prefer a lighter breading, eliminate the first flour dredging step.

These are great with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and hot dinner rolls. Yum!
