Recipe: Hot Cherry Chocolate with Cherry Whipped Cream

Beverages
HOT CHERRY CHOCOLATE

6 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy (whipping) cream, divided use
1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry syrup, divided use
1 tablespoon confectioner's sugar
4 red maraschino cherries with stems

Combine milk, 1 cup of the cream, the chocolate syrup and 1/2 cup of the cherry syrup in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until mixture bubbles around the edges (but don't let it come to a boil). Set aside and keep warm.

Using a mixer, beat remaining cream until foamy. Gradually add the confectioner's sugar and remaining 2 tablespoons cherry syrup and beat until soft peaks form.

Pour the hot chocolate into 4 mugs. Spoon the whipped cream over each serving of chocolate and to with a cherry. Serve immediately.

Makes 4 servings
