Recipe: How to Prevent a Cake from Falling, How to Line a Cake Pan (video)
Tips and Tricks - CookingTIPS FOR PREVENTING A CAKE FROM FALLING:
- Check the date on your baking powder.
- Check your oven temperature with an oven thermometer.
- Have ingredients at room temperature.
- Add eggs one at a time when preparing the batter. The size of egg can make a difference - use large eggs in recipes for baked goods unless the recipe calls for a different size.
- After putting the batter in the pan, tip the pan so batter touches each side of it.
- If the problem was when baking with convection, try baking the cake without it.
- Don't open the oven door until the baking time is up and it's ready to be tested.
- When the suggested baking time is up, test the cake with a toothpick or skewer and add continue baking if it doesn't come out clean.
- When removing the cake from the oven, it doesn't stop baking immediately - be gentle with it when you move it and set it down.
- When cooking at high altitude make the necessary adjustments:

- If baking a cake that won't be served from the pan, you can line the bottom of the pan with a piece or parchment paper. This video has some good tips for lining a cake pan:
