Recipe(tried): Julekage
Misc. This is a Christmas Bread that my Swedish Grandmother, and my Mother and now I make every Christmas.
1 1/3 cup scalded milk
2/3 cup warm water
2/3 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
Combine in large bowl for an electric mixer, let cool to lukewarm.
2 eggs
1 tsp. ground or crushed cardamon
6 2/3 cup flour, divided (may need more or less)
2 pkgs instant yeast
Beat in mixing bowl using 3 cups flour for 2 min., slowly add the rest of the flour, knead in mixer or knead by hand until dough is soft and smooth.
Let rise, punch down.
1 cup raisins
1 cup candied cherry halves (homemade is much better than storebought)
2/3 cup candied fruit (I use candied orange peel instead)
Knead into the dough, shape into 2 round loaves, put into 9' round pans.
Bake at 375 d. for 35 min.
