I'm not sure if you're referring to grease stains as in oil-based food stains (mayo, butter, salad dressing, etc), or grease as in car grease. However, I have discovered with oil-based food stains that if I pre-treat the stain with dishwashing detergent, it will usually take the oil out. I've tried it on both old & new stains, and it's worked for both.
Of course you'll want to test this in a small area first, to ensure that it won't ruin your garment, but it's worth a try!
Good luck!
