Recipe(tried): Maid-Rites aka Taverns (copycat)
Misc.1 # Hamburger
1 med. Onion -chopped
Fry together until meat is done and onions are
soft. To this mixture add:
1/2 C. catsup
1/8 C. Prepared Mustard
Simmer until flavors blend. Serve with
dill pickle slices on hamburger buns.
Doesn't get any faster & easier than this and they
are good too!
If you want the kind with NO seasonings try
this version:
1# Hamburger
1 med. onion chopped
Fry together until meat is cooked and onions
are tender. To this mixture add:
1/4 C. quick oatmeal
1 C. water
salt and pepper to taste
Bring to a boil and then simmer over low heat
until oatmeal is tender, and the mixture has
thickened. You can add more water if needed.
Some people add 2-3 C. of water and simmer all
day - and use a slotted spoon to drain the
excess liquid from meat mixture when ready
to serve.
Serve with pickle slices, catsup and mustard
on a hamburger bun.
