Recipe: Maple Sugar Biscuits (re: Yankee Magazine Biscuits)

MAPLE SUGAR BISCUITS

2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
2-3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup crushed maple sugar

Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Cut in shortening. Add milk to make a soft dough.

Place on a floured board and toss lightly. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle with maple sugar.

Bake in 450 degrees F oven for 10 to 12minutes.
