MILKY WAY CAKE
2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
8 Milky Way candy bars
1 cup margarine, softened divided use
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped pecans or shredded coconut (or a combination of the two)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a tube pan or 13x9-inch cake pan.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
Melt candy bars and 2 tbsp. margarine (I think they would melt easier if chopped) on low heat. Set aside to cool slightly.
Cream sugar with remainder of margarine: add eggs one at the time, beating well after each egg. Add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Add the melted candy and nuts and/or coconut.
Bake at 350 degrees F. If baking in a tube pan will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
I have not tried this recipe, but I would be tempted to try it in 1/2 to 3/4 in layers, and icing with a chocolate frosting.
