Recipe: Mystery Cake (different version than June's)

Desserts - Cakes
Geralynnr, this is a bit different than the one posted by June.

FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE
From Mom

2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 (1 lb) can fruit cocktail

Mix together, beating until smooth (?). Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan. Over batter sprinkle 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Remove from oven.

Make sauce of 1 cup sugar, 1 stick butter (or margarine), 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk and 1 teaspoons vanilla. Boil 8 minutes. Pour over cake.

(This is the way the recipe is written. The old way, where they don't list all the ingredients you need right off and you get halfway thru and find you don't have them all....I would use Pam on the pan instead of greasing and flouring.)
