MYSTERY MOCHA CAKE
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1 1/4 cups sugar, divided use
2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 (1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
4 tbsp cocoa
1 cup cold, double-strength coffee
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8 or 9-inch square baking pan.
Sift together flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
Melt chocolate and butter together over hot water; add to first mixture; blend well.
Combine milk and vanilla; add to chocolate mixture and mix well. Pour into prepared pan.
Combine brown sugar, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour coffee over top.
Bake in 350 degree F oven for 40 minutes.
