NEW-STYLE BEEF STROGANOFF
1 1/2 to 1 3/4 pounds round steak
1 onion, sliced
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed beef broth
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon dry red wine
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
3/4 cup reduced-fat sour cream
Hot cooked noodles (optional, for serving)
Trim all visible fat from steak. Cut steak into 1/4-inch thick slices. Place steak in a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker. Add onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt, paprika, broth, ketchup, and wine.
Cover crock pot and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours or until steak is tender.
Turn crock pot temperature to HIGH. Dissolve cornstarch in water add to slow cooker. Stir in mushrooms.
Cover crock pot and cook 15 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.
Stir in sour cream and serve.
Makes 6 to 8 servings
