Recipe(tried): Old Fashioned Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

This has been my favorite chocolate cake for many years. I hope you enjoy making it too.

1 C water
4 oz melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled
2 eggs
3/4 C. sour cream
1/4 C. shortening
2 C. sugar
2 C. flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
l/4 tsp soda
Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
Cream eggs, sugar and shortening together, add water,sour cream and melted chocolate. Beat well, Slowly add dry ingredients beating well.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 min or until done. Makes 2-9" layers or one 13X11 sheet cake.

Frosting
3 oz unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled
1/2 C. sour cream
3-3 l/2 C. powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Mix well and frost cake.
