Recipe: "Original" Waldorf Salad quest???...

Misc.

Hi Jennifer,
I just read your post and remember this "old" book I found at a yard sale...published in 1936, called "Mary Hunt's Salad Bowl"(The Colwell Press), Minneapolis..by Mary Hunt Altfillisch...
She does not give any "preface" to the recipe, but it is titled "Waldorf Salad", (I personally couldn't make heads or tails of it...but here it is anyway)
I will continue searching through my books--to find something that says "authentic" or "original" for you...This could be fun!!!!
WALDORF SALAD
2 cups diced apples
l cup celery (cut fine)
1/2 cup shredded walnuts
1/2 cup heavy whipped cream
1/4 lb. marshmallows
Mix the whipped cream with the other ingredients, add marshmallow cooked dressing if desired. Dip edges of lettuce in paprika and form a cup shape, place salad in center with whipped cream on top, garnish with crushed nuts.

P.S. Does this make any sense to you?????
