CZECH GINGER BREAD
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 eggs
1 cup dark corn syrup
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 cup milk
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.
Cream sugar and butter together. Add eggs and syrup; beat well. Combine the dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Beat about one more minute. Toss the raisins and nuts with a small amount of flour to coat them, than stir into the batter. Spread in prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30-35 minutes.
