Page, your impromptu get-together sounds perfect. I always find that doing a last minute gathering is the best! Your menu is great but I am going to send a recipe that I have used on many occasions that everyone seems to enjoy. Perhaps you have used this one before. It's nice because you can make it ahead of time, giving you some free time to enjoy your friends.
I just want to say thank you for all the help you have been to me, giving so freely of your time and talents to all of us on the TKL!

THE BEST OF THE BEST ITALIAN BEEF!!
1 - Top or Bottom Round Roast 3 to 4 Ibs.
1or 2 pks. of Good seasons zesy italian dressing mix( if you like alot of flavor add 2 pks.)

Garlic power

1 32oz. jar Pepperoncini peppers
salt
pepper
1 Lg. can of beef broth

You will need a crock pot or slow cooker, rub the garlic powder to taste and the italian dressing mix , and pepper all over the roast. put in crock pot then add half the juice from the jar of pepperoncini . cook this for atleast 8 hrs. on low. or a 200* setting it can be cooked longer you want to be able to pull the beef apart . when this is done you will want to add the broth and cook at higher temp 350* for 10- 15 min. hope this is the flavor you are looking for my family likes it better than Rosatils beef sands
