Recipe(tried): Picallili - my Mother's recipe

Preserving - Pickles, Relishes
This recipe is 100 years old.
Good as a relish with sandwitches or scrambled eggs.
Serve with meatloaf, pork or beef roast etc.

PICALLILI

6 cups cucumbers sliced
4 cups green tomatoes ( pink inside) sliced
4 cups red, green and yellow bell peppers sliced
4 cups onion sliced

DO NOT SLICE TOO THIN OR VEGGIES WILL COOK TO MUSH.

Sprinkle with 1/2 cup canning salt ;
Cover with ice. Let stand 3 hours.
Rinse thoroughly.

1/2 cup salt
6 cups sugar
2 tablespoon celery seed
4 tablespoons white mustard seed
2 teaspoons turmeric powder
6 cups cider vinegar
4 cups water
HEAT ABOVE UNTIL BOILING.

ADD SLICED VEGETABLES.
WHEN IT REACHES 2nd. BOILING STAGE ,
place in sterile jars and cap to process in hot water bath 10 minutes.

PS; If you add cabbage, carrots etc. name changes to Chow-Chow.
