Recipe: Planter's Brownie Fudge Nut Pie (using sweetened condensed milk, 1980's)

PLANTER'S BROWNIE FUDGE NUT PIE

1 1/2 cups pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup Margarine
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 eggs, beaten
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 (9-inch) unbaked pastry shell
Whipped cream, for garnish
1/4 cup pecan or walnut halves, for garnish

Coarsely chop 1 1/2 cups nuts; set aside.

In medium saucepan, over low heat, stir condensed milk, margarine and cocoa powder until margarine melts and mixture is warm; remove from heat.

Stir in eggs, flour, vanilla and chopped nuts; pour into prepared crust.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes or until center is firm.

Serve warm or cold garnished with whipped cream and remaining nuts.

Makes 1 (9-inch) pie, 10 servings
