Hi Felicia,
I have been making this for over 50 years. My children and grandchildren still beg for it. It is super easy! Making the 3 items separately and mixing them on your plate is not the same. Taste just isn't there! Enjoy! Judy
SHEPHERD'S PIE
good amount of mashed potatoes made with milk & butter
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped (optional)
1 tbsp. coarse steak spice
1 (19 oz.) can cream-style corn (not niblets)
This is what I do:
Preheat oven to 475-500 degrees F.
Make up the mashed potatoes as you would usually make for dinner. Cover to keep warm and set aside.
Brown the ground beef, onion, and steak spice in a very little oil (just enough so meat won't stick.) When browned, pour into a 2 quart casserole dish.
Spread the cream-style corn evenly over the browned meat.
Spoon and spread warm mashed potatoes over the top of the corn, sealing the edges against the casserole dish.
Put in very hot oven 475-500 degrees F until top is lightly golden in spots.
Dish out on plates and put ketchup on top to your taste. Yummy!
