Recipe: Spiced Golden Raisins

Appetizers and Snacks
Spiced Golden Raisins
rec.food.cooking/Shacra (1998)
Makes 2 1/2 cups

I had these at a Christmas potluck and finely got the recipe...

2 cups light brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 cup water
2 cups golden raisins
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

Cook brown sugar, spices and water until a little of the syrup makes a soft ball in cold water (232 degrees on candy thermometer). Stir in raisins; cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat; put pan in bowl of warm water while working. Drain raisins (1/2 cup at a time) on absorbant paper and roll in granulated sugar.
