Recipe(tried): SUNDAY DINNER AT OUR HOUSE

Menus

Today for our Fourth of July meal we had: marinated grilled sirloin steak, zipper cream peas, onions au gratin, scalloped potatoes, sliced tomatoes, macaroni salad, sweet tea with lemon, CLAUSSEN Pickles, Barbara's Cake, and plum pie. YUMMY!!!!!

I'm including some of the recipes.

Onions Au Gratin

6 medium yellow onions
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup whipping cream
2 T. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Slice the onions into 1/2"-thick rings; saute in butter until tender. Place in a greased 8-inch square baking dish. In a bowl, stir broth, cream, flour, salt, and pepper until smooth; pour over onions. Sprinkle with cheeses. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is golden brown and mixture is bubbly. Yield: 8 servings.

Purple Plum Pie

4 cups sliced fresh plums (about 1 1/2 pounds)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 T. lemon juice
1 unbaked deep-dish pie crust (9-inches)
Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmet
3 T. COLD butter or margarine

In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients; pour into the pie shell. For topping, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl; cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over filling. Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Cover edges of crust with foil during the last 20 minutes to prevent overbrowning.
Yield: 8 servings.Marinade for Steak

1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
4 T. sesame seeds
juice of one lemon
juice of one lime
2 T. garlic

Mix until thoroughly blended. Put steak in a shallow dish or a ZipLoc Bag and pour marinade over the steak, turning occasionally. Place the steak in the refrigerator overnight. When ready to cook, remove steak from marinade and discard the marinade. Grill, or cook, as usual.

Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!!!!!
