Recipe(tried): Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Misc.
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
This is an unusual recipe my families loved over 20 years. Ingredients sound wierd, I know, but it really is wonderful.

Serves about 4 and doubles easily

Make meatballs of:
1 lb. ground beef, lean
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 egg
1 Tbsp. bread crumbs
dash each salt and pepper

Put meatballs in heavy skillet ( for this one I drag out the old electric). Over the meatballs put 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup hot water, 1/2 cup raisins and 1 large (or 2 small) thinly sliced lemon. Cover and simmer slowly about 45 minutes. Just great served over rice pilaf.
