Recipe: TIPS: How to prevent dense bread from a bread machine
Misc.Dear Nirali,
Since you posted your question in the Cooking with Appliances board, I'll assume your question is about bread machine baking. Here are some causes for dense bread as listed in a bread machine manual:
Heavy, Dense Texture:
- Not enough water or too much flour was used.
- Not enough sugar or yeast was used.
- Recipe was imbalanced by and excess of whole grain flours, whole grains, dried fruits or other added ingredients.
And here are a few tips:
- When measuring the flour, stir the flour to "fluff it up" before measuring; level the flour in the cup by running a knife across it.
- You can adjust the consistency of the dough while its being kneaded by adding drops of warm water if the dough is too stiff or adding small amounts of flour if the dough is too wet.
I hope that's a help.
Happy Baking!
Betsy
