WATSONVILLE APPLESAUCE CAKE (1956)
Make the muffin method; Mix all dry ingredients and all went (sic) ingredients and then combine.
DRY:
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoonsalt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon cornstarch
WET:
1 3/4 cups applesauce
1/2 cup salad oil
Mix well and add:
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup seedless raisins.
Pour into a greased 13x9-inch pan.
Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 35 to 40 minutes. When cool, cover with butter-vanilla icing.
