Golden syrup is similar to light corn syrup, it has a golden color and a little more "flavor" than corn syrup. In the U.K., it is used a lot, the one I am familiar with is Lyle's Golden Syrup which can be bought in the U.S. at specialty shops featuring British food, etc. You can use Golden Syrup in place of honey, molasses in equal amounts. You can substitute Golden syrup for sugar, 1 cup Golden Syrup replaces 1 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup liquid.
