Recipe(tried): Wonderful Coffee Cake

Hi Marty,
Here is a coffee cake recipe that everyone I know loves.

Wonderful Coffee Cake

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cups sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Topping:
1/2 cups white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 tsp. cinnamon

Combine all topping ingredients,set aside.

Cream shortening & sugar; add eggs. Alternate dry ingredients, sour cream & vanilla. Put 1/2 of batter* in greased 7x11-inch pan; sprinkle with half of topping. Repeat. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

*When I spread the bottom half of the batter down, I don't really use 1/2 the batter like the recipe says, I put a little less so its easier to spread the "thick" batter on top over the topping. You will see what I mean when your spreading this. It's best to have more to spread on top.)
