ISO: Chili sauce

Hi everyone. I am looking for a recipe that my husband talks about all the time. His grandmother used to make something she called "chili sauce" and she used to put it on pot roasts. He said she would can it from what they grew in the garden. I have never had it before and his grandmother passed away years ago so I would love to find the recipe or maybe something close to it and surprise him. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
