QUICK BUTTER DIPS
2 cups sifted flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup milk
1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine or butter
Jelly or honey (for serving)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Sift dry ingredients together into mixing bowl. Add milk all at once and stir lightly just to moisten. Don't over-mix. Set aside.
Cut stick of butter or margarine in half and melt each half (1/4 cup) a 9-inch glass baking dish. This can be done by placing the baking dishes in the 425 degree F oven.
Place dough on lightly floured surface and sprinkle with flour. Lightly pat to 1/4-inch thickness oblong in shape. With a table knife cut in half lengthwise then cut each half into 16 to 20 strips.
Pick up each strip separately and place in melted butter or margarine. Turn over so that the strip is coated then repeat with each strip, placing side by side in the baking dish. Repeat for second baking dish.
Bake in a 425 degree F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with jelly or honey.
