ISO: chocolate nut slices
Misc.Growing up my mother used to make a delicious candy at Christmas that she called "Chocolate Nut Slices". This was similar to fudge, though not as sweet, and actually tasted much better. For some reason, I think she may have gotten the recipe out of an old Auburn University cookbook from the 1950's. The cookbook was a glossy paperback, and I remember it being tattered from much use. The cookbook is not in her collection, and my mother now has Alzheimer's and is unable to help me with this recipe. The candy had a chocolate and pecan fudge consistency and was rolled into a log and chilled in a pastry cloth in the refrigerator. I would love to make this for my family at Christmas as this was a staple treat at our house during the holidays along with divinity, peanut butter fudge, and mexican orange candy. If this recipe sounds familiar to anyone or if anyone has access to one of the old Auburn University cookbooks, please contact me. Thank you for your help, and Happy Holidays! Jane
