ISO: chocolate snacking cake recipe

My great-aunt Gladys (now departed) used to make a great, moist, chewy chocolate cake. I remember it was made right in the pan. She mixed all the dry ingredients in the pan, then made a little well in the middle and added vinegar, eggs and maybe water or milk -- I don't remember. Does this recipe sound familiar to anyone out there? I'd love a chunk of it, now with a glass of cold milk -- got milk?? =:-)
