ISO: Fruit Compote

Misc.
My mom used to make what she called a fruit compote. She made it by adding canned fruits and sugar and I'm not sure if there might not have been vodka added. She would mix the different fruits together in a glass covered type crock and weekly, she would add 1 can of fruit, such as cherries, pineapple, pears, peaches, etc. This was never cooked, it just sat unfrigerated and was used for ice cream toppers or by itself. I have searched and searched and never found anything like it. Has anyone ever heard of such a recipe, if so, I would love to have it.

Thank you.
