ISO: hutzelbrot - German bread with prunes, nuts, tan in color
Misc. This bread was made at Christmas by my mother-in-law,now deceased. She could not write in English & only could tell me how she learned to make it was by watching her mother. The bread was not white, but deep tan, had whole prunes, and had whole nuts (only one kind) in it, Plus ?? I want so badly to make it. She said she started it with a sponge. Many folks wanted to buy it from her as it was just so good, but she said it was too much work and she only made it for her own family. Please help!!!! Thanks so much. I know she said it was called "hutzelbrot" - hope spelling is correct.
